Those “One Love” commercials that repeat on various TV channels in the U.S.A. tease with snippets of sand, surf, flora and fauna yet deny potential visitors to Jamaica the bargain offered by a chain of hotels operated under the banner of SuperClubs.
Boasting an all-inclusive vacation concept, guests pay up front and never have to dig into their pockets for tips, tax or treats throughout their entire stay.
Up now to eight world-class resorts scattered throughout the Caribbean, SuperClubs resorts are known in Jamaica as Breezes in Montego Bay and Runaway Bay; Grand Lido and Hedonism II in Negril; Grand Lido Braco in Trelawny, and Hedonism III in the Runaway Bay area. There is also a family-friendly resort called Boscobel Beach that is located in the Ocho Rios region of the island. Children are welcome at this resort.
And the one with the most flair of old Jamaica, is San Souci, also seated in the Eight Rivers area.
Breezes in Nassau, Bahamas, Breezes in Brazil, Breezes in Curacao, Breezes resorts seem to be popping up everywhere fun, freedom and friendly atmosphere prevails.
Last week, guests of Breezes in Runaway Bay were in for a special treat when three days of non-stop revelry celebrated two decades of a super inclusive resort in Jamaica.
Now boasting 100 percent occupancy, the oldest of the Breezes chain offered their guests theme nights featuring steel bands, a white night, country and western renditions, dinner and show on the beach on the second night and for the grand finale, an evening branded Magical Dream
The last night found the 238-room resort transformed into a castle.
If the notion of fairy tales is conjured, just check in to find Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and of course her Seven little pint-sized men, alongside Cinderella and without discrimination, Beauty and The Beast.
According to Public Relations Manager, Patrick Scudder, “Our 20 th anniversary comes at a time when we are experiencing 90-100 percent occupancy, lighting our Christmas tree and getting international spotlight from numerous international media outlets.”
Scudder explained that Premium cable show, Spike TV stopped onto the property recently.
Contestants on their “Blind Date” reality show guested there before meeting with their counterparts that stayed at Hedonism III.
Guests confess that the reasons they choose Breezes Runaway Bay is because the resort is acclaimed for its golf course and is easy access to adventurous day tours.
For all the flurry at Breezes, foreigners find the location just a breeze away from Chukka Blue, (formerly Chukka Cove) where horse back riding, a mountain bike adventure tour, and shopping in Ocho Rios at the Taj Mahal Shopping Centre is easy access.
From a central location in the lobby, guests can attain information for tours throughout the island including a daily trip to the Martha Brae for rafting, a Blue Mountain bicycle tour, trips to Dunn’s River falls as well as a Bob Marley Jeep Safari to the birthplace and final resting place of the reggae icon.
Another of nature’s gems, is just a short ride away from the Runaway Bay resort with a 45-minute trip to Luminous Lagoon at Glistening Waters.
One of the brochures explains: “At twilight, guests can get aboard a boat in the lagoon, sail out and be stunned as nature literally comes alive. As the boat moves, the path it takes glow as bright as a firefly. Imagine seeing lighted outlines of fish as they move. If you are a swimmer, jump in, you glow once there is movement.”
Reason for this, scientists claim, is that millions of microscopic organism (dinoflagellates) living in the lagoon’s water.
But if all that out-door activity seem more than a breeze, guests enjoyed well-known cabaret singer A.J. Brown, and Judy Emanuel who highlighted the fairy tale theme night with their renditions of the songs from various movie sound tracks.
The theme from the movie “Beauty & The Beast,” originally sung by Peabo Bryson and Celine Dion will be rivaled by this Jamaican duet.
In addition, a duty free jewelry store on the premises treats guests to a surprise gift, each Wednesday and Friday at 5 p.m. when they enter a raffle. Precious stones, fine jewelry are boxed for the surprise drawing. No purchases necessary for this treat.
With all those offerings Breezes also provides clubbing for footloose party animals. Breezes own Hurricanes Night Club opens its doors for dancing at 11 p.m. and closes when the last guest exits. |
